In addition to 7 years of College teaching experience, I have been teaching privately for nearly 20 years.  My students love my natural approach to the drums and love to study everything from Classical Tympani, Four Mallet Marimba, Orchestral Snare Drum, Latin Percussion, to Jazz and Pop Drum Set.  I have performed and recorded with more than 2 dozen well known artists (read my resume).  http://mikehenrie.com/Resume%20-%20Mike%20Henrie.doc  If you are interested in private lessons, including online tutoring, please contact me after reviewing the following information:

Mike Henrie Student/Teacher Agreement

By taking drum lessons from Mike Henrie, the following applies:

1.      Students will be charged $25 dollars per half hour lesson.

2.      Payment is due at the end of each lesson.

A $10.00 late fee is due for each week payment is past due.

3.      Cancellations are allowed if a 24-hour notice is given.

(Please note my phone number and email addresses below)

No “make up lesson” will be offered due to the hectic nature of my schedule.

I will be as courteous to you – as there will be times I won’t be in town.

I also want to remind all students and parents of the student’s responsibility to

1.      practice the amount of time needed to progress each week

2.      secure a ride to and from lessons

3.      inform me of cancellations/changes

4.      secure the right equipment and music.

It may seem obvious, but parents can encourage and inspire their child to practice by providing good instruments and an attractive practice environment.  On the required list of items for lessons are a metronome, Drum Sticks (I suggest a pair of Vic Firth SD2 Bolero sticks if you’ve never purchased sticks before), the right book(s), and an instrument/pad to practice on.  The book I begin with is “Fundamental Studies for Snare Drum” by Garwood Whaley.  I have written my own Drum Set book that will be emailed in installments as the student progresses.  I also highly recommend this website http://www.vicfirth.com/education/index.html for great articles and videos - especially the 40 Essential Rudiments.
